Steep climb from the start to the top of eccles pike, rewarded by 360 degree views of the kinder, combs reservoir and the cheshire plane. Foot paths to Whaley Bridge (good cake and coffee at the Bridge House Bakery on the main high street). Return along the canal to Buxsworth Canal basin (world heritage site) and back to the Old Hall via the old tram way.
