Derwent Edge

Derwent reservoir is an impressive collection of reservoirs, with some equally impressive dams. Annually you see the Lancaster bomber fly over in recognition of its history as the place they practiced the bouncing bomb in the British world war effort. There are large car parks there (sat nav: S33 0AQ). Parking is free on the road side just before you arrive at the paid car park! There is a small kiosk selling coffee and snacks, as well as a bike hire. (prices from £14/£17 half/full day, or £34 for high spec mountain bikes, of which there are some awesome routes around there. This walk we did was great for seeing the valley from the ridge as well as taking in the reservoir and the spectacular dam. Another great spot is slippery stones plunge pool, good for a small swim, or alternatively a good picnic spot.
